Established in May 2011, PAFA is a not-for-profit organisation that works to strengthen the capacity and influence of the accountancy profession in Africa.
We are recognised as a regional organisation and network partner by the International Federation of Accountants. Our membership comprises 56 professional accountancy organisations in 45 African countries and five international affiliations.
The objective of API is to realise an African public sector capacitated by competent, influential and ethical accountancy professionals who support good finance governance towards realisation of accountability and transparency in the use of public resources.

The API develops high-quality learning materials that are compliant with IFAC education standards and other recognized education standards, to enhance public sector accounting and auditing competence.
With funding from USAID, API is developing a learning program, to grow and strengthen the capacity of staff at Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), internal auditors at Ministries of Health and local accountants to conduct quality performance audits on accountability and stewardship of funding and commodities. This learning program will cover the unique aspects of working as an accountant or auditor in the public sector. It will be offered in partnership with Professional Accounting Organizations (PAOs) to enable them to enhance the skills and knowledge of professional accountants and auditors working in or with the public sector. The Council of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) has elected Ms. Susanne Swaniker- Tettey as President, Mr. Moshe Libengo as Vice President and Mr. Kushinga Zimucha the Chairperson of the Audit Commitee of BICA.
